Text Box: Guitar for Divine Infant Parish

This is the neck blank—out of which the completed neck will emerge, with quite a bit more elbow grease. It is made of mahogany. The fingerboard has to be attached to the top of the neck, after which the neck will be reduced in width and the heel (the part that attaches to the guitar body) will be shaped. The peghead must also be cut to its final shape. If you look carefully, you can see there are two thin veneers glued onto the front and back of the peghead. The top veneer is Birch. The back veneer is Cherry. They serve both to strengthen the peghead and to make it look better (e.g., hiding the glue joint between the neck and the peghead). You can also see the mother-of-pearl inlay in the peghead.
