Peghead inlay is a nice way to dress up a guitar. You can replace the “Xaver” inlay with any script or image of your choice. This example is MOP, which looks great against the jet black peghead. However, abalone pearl comes in virtually every shade of the rainbow. So, the possibilities are endless. |

Pearl Inlay |

More Peghead inlay… This again is MOP, but this time against Indian rosewood. The peghead is bound with curly maple. |

Fingerboard inlay, particularly script inlay is very striking, and there is no better way to personalize your guitar than to put your name on the fingerboard. |

Rosette inlay is also a great idea. A combination of 1/16th inch Mother-of-Pearl flanked by black-white-black purfling rings makes a truly elegant soundhole rosette. |

More Rosette inlay… In this example, I used 1/8th inch Mother-of-Pearl for the central portion of the rosette. On this guitar, I also rounded the fretboard end, to conform to the soundhole. You typically will not find this feature on a factory produced steel-string guitar. |

Purfling Inlay. Accenting a well-crafted instrument with purfling around the perimeter of the soundboard distinguishes a great looking guitar from one that just looks nice. But why stop there? Put it on the sides and back as well for the ultimate look of prestige. |

Fret markers don’t have to be just dots either. Here I have used a four-diamond marker in Mother-of-Pearl against a rosewood fingerboard. Would you prefer squares, cars, teddy bears? Anything is possible. |
